Live Mandala Painting: ‘Bangles’ Day 10

Book Bin Bookstore Window Project June 14 – July 5

I spent 2 hours painting today and to look at these photos, it will look like I took the day off.  Today I painted with titanium white…the entire background and around the outer edges of all the yellow, red, and blue sections.  While it may look like this painting is done, it still has a long way to go.

This close-up shows where I painted a band of white (to the right of right of the blue and above the red.  To the right of the white you can see some of my pencil markings. That is in area yet to be painted.  You’ll have to wait to see what color will go in that area.

I used the white to smooth out the lines for the areas that were already painted (cleaned up the lines).  The white also gives a bit of a glossy finish to the canvas.  I’ll be adding a glaze of color over the white areas.

Here’s a full view which looks very much like yesterday’s photo.  It’s difficult to capture the difference the white makes to the painting.  If you were standing in front of it you’d be able to see it.

And as always, a view from the sidewalk.

Tomorrow I clean up a couple of more edges with white and then add a glaze of color tints to the background and the entire white portion of the canvas.

Happy Coloring!
