Today I completed the last quadrant of the center section…thus completing the center of this mandala. I then started on the last ‘section’ of the mandala: the “pipes”. I wanted them to have more depth and texture. While it’s bit tedious to do, I really like the effect and I experience a meditative state with the continuous placement of small lines inside each pipe.

Also while I do this, the intention and insight of this mandala become more concrete. I will share more about this when I finish it.

I’m now into the 2nd week of ‘coloring’ this version of the Self-Fulfilling Prophecy mandala. Just in case you were wondering, I’m using 140lb cold press watercolor paper for this rendering.

So today I focused on detailing the center sections. I finished 3 quadrants. Tomorrow I’ll finish the 4th (lower left) and then start on the “pipes”.

Starting today I declared a new habit: do some form of art every day for at least 30 minutes. Today I spent 45 minutes coloring. Yay!

With the declaration I also started a new style of “coloring”:  ink drawing…take one of mandala designs and “color” it in with black ink…giving it the look of an ink drawing. I’m really excited about doing this style of coloring.

Here’s my first day of coloring on “Self-Fulfilling Prophecy”:
