And on the third day, I completed the coloring of section 2 of the 2012 Mandala of the Year. The third day being while I sat in my booth space at the Corvallis Indoor Winter Market on February 25.

I like using a variety of marker brands for a variety of effects. I use the brush style markers to ‘paint’ the backgrounds and textures. Then I like to overlay them with the gel and fine tip markers to add special effects and highlights. On the final slide you see a detail photo that shows how I used a gold gel marker to add hieroglyphic-styled markings…something that would be challenging to do with paint or color pencils.

While sitting in my booth space at the Corvallis Indoor Winter Market on February 18, I continued coloring Section 2 of the 2012 Mandala of the Year.

And just as a reminder…I’m coloring this year’s mandala with markers…mostly Tombow brand and gel markers.
